The Best Ski Resorts for Beginners (Honestly)

Forget the influencer picks. Here's where to actually learn to ski.

Zermatt is photogenic, but it's not beginner-friendly. The blues are long and the village is awkward for first-timers. Beautiful for week two of skiing, painful for day one.

What you want is a resort with a flat, treelined nursery slope, ski-in/ski-out lodging, and a ski school that runs in your language. Soldeu in Andorra ticks all three. So does Lech in Austria, if you can stretch the budget.

Banff is also underrated for learning: Sunshine Village's Strawberry chair is one of the gentlest, longest greens in North America, and the town is fun even on a ski-school schedule.
