The trick with family travel is removing decisions. Pick a resort or town where dinner is twenty steps from bed and the beach is fifty.
Lake Como in shoulder season. Big family suites are common, ferries entertain the kids for free, and the food is easy. Banff in summer for the same reason in mountains.
Skip places where you'll spend an hour every day debating which restaurant. You're outnumbered.
